Get ready to explore the magic of strengths-based play! Solution-focused play therapy (SFPT) is a strengths-based approach to play therapy. This interactive workshop will explore ways of being with kids that are playful, systemic, and affirmative. We will discuss the foundations and key concepts of SFPT, explore the difference between a problem-oriented and solution-focused perspective, and identify how to employ SFPT techniques with children. Through this presentation, participants will practice several SFPT interventions that can be used in both in-person or virtual play therapy sessions.
1. Define 3 key concepts of SFPT.
2. Describe 2 SFPT techniques that emphasize goal setting and progress assessment.
3. Evaluate 2 SFPT interventions that can be employed in the playroom.
